Selling Your Home? Read the small print!

By instructing an Estate Agent to sell your house you are entering into a legally binding contract.  Before signing the paperwork, take time to read it through, you may be glad you did!

Roger Snowdon from MacLachlan Solicitors has some handy hints:

"Free Home Information Pack (HIP)" – Is it free or do you have to pay if you withdraw your instructions from the Estate Agency?  In some cases the HIP is not free at all. Order the HIP via MacLachlan and you know that it belongs to you and the cost is often substantially lower.

"In House Conveyancing" – Often this is not "in house" at all, it is a referral arrangement which the Agent has with a centralised Conveyancing business, usually in return for a fee. If you wish to have somebody independent and local whom you can contact easily or call in to visit then there really is no substitute for a locally based Solicitor.

"In House Conveyancing Costs" – Before you agree to in house Conveyancing costs check with us. At MacLachlan there are no "add-ons" and we always confirm the quote in writing, to ensure you can compare like for like.
